the complexities of sprinkles

Tuesday. 08. 28. 2012.

My favourite donut is the vanilla dip donut. I call it the sparkly donut. I remember a friend of mine asking me what the hell is a sparkly donut. I know they’re sprinkles but that’s just what I call them.

“Back in the day” the vanilla dip donuts at Tim Hortons had the long sprinkles. Apparently they’re called “jimmies”. Then there was a switch to the nonpareils, the hard, round sprinkles. These days, selected Tim Hortons locations have vanilla dip with jimmies and some with nonpareils.

I prefer jimmies over the nonpareils. I don’t like the crunch of the nonpareils. Sometimes they get stuck in my molars and that’s uncomfortable.
