the cold comes

Tuesday. 09. 14. 2010.

Luckily I don’t have a cold but it has started to get cold, weather wise, here. It blows and it rains. Typical Swedish fall weather. Perfect to make a nice pot of soup. Since there’s only Fredrik and I, I tend to make rather small pots of soup but they are delicious nonetheless.

I made a curry lentil soup, using a recipe from Epicurious for reference. So simple to make and so yummy in the belly.

1 slice of thick cut smokey streaky bacon
1/2 a medium onion
4-6 medium tomatoes (I used the ones from our garden)
2 carrots, grated
1 cup of lentils
2 teaspoons madras curry
2 dashes cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon cumin
boiling water

Fredrik preferred the soup not puréed.

I wanted a creamy lentil soup. So I just took the handheld blender to it.
garlic toast + curry lentil soup

So that was dinner, along with a slice of garlic toast. And some tapas shrimp we got from ICA.
