Last Sunday I invited some friends over for afternoon tea. I was a bit nervous that it wouldn’t be so great in the beginning but once people started arriving, it became a smashing success.   🙂

Unfortunately my camera ran out of battery, otherwise there’d be photos of our very crowded table of tea and things that go well with tea.

Afternoon tea wouldn’t be afternoon tea without scones, so I baked 3 varieties of scones. Cream scones (recipe from, bacon-cheddar-chives scones (recipe from King Author Flour) and cheddar-chives scones (just the bacon-cheddar-chives scones without bacon).

I followed Nigella’s advice in freezing the butter and then grating it. I used the food processor grater but I’m sure a box grater will do. I was rather impressed by the outcome of these scones. Everyone complimented on them and I was instructed to make more scones the next time I have afternoon tea.
